You drank too much Right wing radio Kool-Aid. You are repeating their talking points. You do not know your history. The real answer is McCain is exactly like our very worst President in history, George W. Bush.
As far as this lady's comment below, Lady Tazz, Jimmy Carter, our only PHD President, he has the second higest ID next to Bill Clinton in the modern day Presidents department . . he is not dumb, the lowest IQ distintion belongs to George W. Bush! Google it and check it out.
Hello, your biggest expense would be lodging. Getting around by bus or train is pretty cheap…food is also cheap if u eat as the locals do, and stay away from 'Western' restaurants….there are lots of hostels or budget hotels in Cairo that can be had for about 10-15 quid a night…but you should plan a bit before you go. Try travellerspoint.com Have a nice trip.
The most enjoyable way is to have detailed planning ahead of time and then be prepared to go in a completely different direction at short notice. You may get somewhere and love it or hate it, changign your ideas on how long to stay, or hear of a 'must visit' place that wasn't on your agenda.
£10k sounds a lot but will soon get eaten up in 'Western' countries. The Money section for each country on Lonely Planet's website tells you approx costs to budget for. Asia will be cheap but the European countries that you mention, the Far East & Oz won't be.
I swear by Lonely Planet but if you plan to work, you may want to take a look at The Work Your Way range and see if you perhaps want to take one of those too. At least flick through one in a book shop and make mental notes of any handy hints.
You might want to talk to a specialist agent such as STA or Trailfinders about your RTW options. Consider climate – you don't want to be in Asia during the monoon/typhoon season or the west coast of the Americas during huricane season, if you can avoid it. Also consider that you'll have to fix dates for your flights and may have to pay a charge if you want to change. they alos have a 12-month limit on them. Equally, some border crossings require you to have proof of an onward ticket.
If you can do it…Europe, incl Spain, Portugal, Hungary, Czech, Croatia etc (all of which will be cheaper than France, Switz, Italy etc) then fly to India for a while. Over to Thailand, loop Cambodia, Vietnam and Laos, then go down through Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia and cross to Oz. Over to NZ. Fly to Latin America if you can get a RTW that goes there, otherwise USA or Africa and home.
And, good luck with your travel companion. You may find that you don't stay together for the whole duration, particularly if you have such a high opinion of him/her before you even start
Hi. These links explain from a tourist's perspective, going up to Jerusalem from Sharm and returning.
From what I have heard, the most difficult part occurs from Egypt until Taba.
Once you cross over into Israel, simply take a bus or other transport to Eilat. (A cab would be too expensive.)
"From Taba, you need to get to the Central Bus Station in Eilat — about a 15-minute drive. There are local buses that run this route and, in addition, taxis within Eilat are a dime a dozen.
"From the bus station in Eilat, there are buses to Jerusalem — it's about a 4.5-hour-drive. According to the website of the Egged bus company, there are buses at 7 a.m., 9 a.m., 11 a.m, 13.30 p.m., 16.30 p.m. and 00.30 a.m. It's advisable, though, to call Egged to double-check, at *2800 or 03-6948888 . . . . ."
From Eilat, you can get a bus to Jerusalem or to a destination of your choice. From Jerusalem, just reverse the process: bus to Eilat, then choose your type of transport back to Taba, and cross the border to Egypt.
Egged, the Israeli bus company, will answer all your questions regarding up-to-date schedule and travel costs.
You might like to consult with local experts at the new free travel advice site, Trip Touch.
Regarding safety, I will answer only regarding the Israeli side of the border. While there are no guarantees anywhere in the world these days, yes, the trip is considered safe! Have a great time.
