Budget Travel Mag in Barcelona??
Aniston Asked:
I am planning to travel to Barcelona this October. I would like to go on budget since my story for a budget Travel Mag is about budget trips. I am thinking of eating breakfast (cereals) at my friend's house. What I'd like to know is the average cost of lunch and dinner at a restaurant (nothing fancy) in Barcelona proper. I've read in some of the responses about a "market". Are there restaurants near the market? Thank you for your time.

For lunch your best travel budget mag bet is to look for a nice "menu del día". Most restaurants in Barcelona (except the fancy expensive ones) offer that. It's an offer during lunch time that includes two dishes (from a closed list to choose from), drink and dessert for a closed price, between 8 and 15 euros, depending on quality and area of the city.
For dinner is a bit more complicated as very few restaurants offer closed menus (although there are a few) and generally they are more expensive. Expect around 15-20 for something simple like a pizza and a beer.
The market is a good idea for a fast lunch. For example in La Boqueria you can have a quick dish of fresh pasta for around 5 euros. You can find similar offers in other markets and also small restaurants/bars that will offer you a "menu del dia" (cheap and generally good quality).

With times still tough for magazines and the travel category in general, Newsweek is considering unloading Arthur Frommer’s Budget Travel magazine, AdAge reports, citing unidentified sources. The magazine may either be sold whole or Newsweek may accept the taking of partial equity stakes in the travel book, which it bought about 10 years ago. AdAge’s piece follows an item in New York mag this week, which reported rumors that the magazine may be shut down. Reps for Budget Travel have denied any plans to shutter the mag or layoff its staff, telling NY mag that everything is “business as usual” and that the mag is preparing its “February issue and beyond.” The magazine’s reps didn’t address AdAge’s questions about a sale, except to confirm that rumors of Budget Travels’ demise are false.

absolutely AWESOME.
There are more than 400 hotels and resturants in Barcelona – the biggest city of spain. The rate may differ, but considering the fact that you are looking for economical resturant, ifeel tha tu can get your food for around 12 Euros.
